Greetings from the Director, Pete Leary

SWIM 2010’s theme is:
Hope & Action: Hope is what we all cling to when all is going wrong with the world or in our own lives. Hope is what gives us the strength to keep going when things get tough. We hope, we dream, and we do our best.
But if all we do is Hope, then nothing will change or get better.
Hope without Action, is no more then a wish. We are all capable of turning Hope into reality. I believe that if every time we say “I hope”, if we then also ask, “what can I do to make that Hope a reality?” Then Action is the only option.
Hope & Action! together make things happen.
We don’t know at press time what the conditions on the Florida Coast will be during SWIM2010. So we are leaving room in the SWIM2010 Schedule for Action on our part to make things better. This is a SWIM tradition and we stand ready to help in some way. SWIM Board members Carrel Morgan and Marc Robinson live in Homestead and South Miami, respectively, and are keeping me aware of conditions
We will start each day with the “Thought for the Day” to give us a focus for our activities.
So look forward to Fun, Spirit, Music, Worship, Adventures,
Campfires, Dancing, Coffeehouse, and Work to discover
yourself and the world.
We are fortunate to have the Reverend John Buehrens, UUA President 1993-2001 with us this year to lead worship, and serve as Chaplain. He will also do a book introduction and signing workshop.
-Pete Leary, SWIM Director 2010-2011
