SWIM 2006 | Top | Bottom | SWIM Home Education is a broad concept and can encompass any form of learning – whether inside the confines of the classroom or outside, in the “real” world. Formal Education When it comes to formal education, the rules for learning are a little bit stricter. This would mean going to school and attending classes. In this type of education, students are required to adhere to the policies and guidelines that the educational institution they are attending has stipulated. The tools for evaluating the students’ learning in formal education can include quizzes, examinations, recitations, essays, research papers, or term papers. Students must complete the requisites in order to pass the course and move to the next level of learning. Systems of Formal Education There are different systems of formal education that are known today. "Primary Education" "Secondary Education" "Higher Education" "Adult Education" "Indigenous Education" Informal Education Whereas formal education emphasizes learning with trained teacher, informal education refers to all types of learning outside of the school setting. It can also refer to different types of alternative education, which include home schooling, community work, youth work, and many others. References: Wikipedia |
